IP Office/VMPro 2008R2? 8

Running 4.2(4) IP Office and VMPro, is that supported on 2008R2 64bit?

Trying to migrate it off a physical machine and onto a VM.

TIA!

4.2.4 is supported on 2k8 64bit.

But if you're goning to migrate better upgrade the IPO/VMPro server.

5.0 is much more stable then 4.2.4

Cool. Which I probably will do anyway. 5.0, is there a specific revision I should use or whatever the latest is?

What would be the best way to do this with upgrading? Bring up the new VM, install the latest versions and then point it at the IP office? I have moved installs before but never at the same time as migrating it.

Maybe upgrade on the current server, install latest version on new server then just move necessary files over??

No it is not supported on 4.2.4

From techbulletin 113 (5.0.18)
2.1 Support for Windows Server 2008 R2 (64Bit) Operating System
Further to the announcement in Technical Bulletin 112, this release of IP Office software is now supported with Server 2008 R2 where support for Server 2008 is declared.

No 4.anything releases are supported by Avaya since R5 is out though :-)

why don't you just virtualise the existing machine with VM Ware converter?


this way you dont need to migrate it off and it will sit on your vmware box fine.

(this is assuming you are using VMWare. If not, there are similar tools for other VM Platforms.

HSM, I looked into that before and attempted to use VMware converter on a linux box that I had, in the end it just hung for days and I never messed with it again.

Have you done this firsthand? I would also prefer to be on the latest versions as well, windows and Avaya. So I figured why not do it all at once.

Bas, that link doesn't work for me, I dont have an SSO account. :(

Bas recommends this version: ust use the latest 5.0.22 for the IPO and 5.0.27 for the VMPro.

But the link you gave me shows 5.0.72, is that what everyones using at this point?

I reckon try the VM ware route again. the migration isnt much of a ball ache but the conversion tools for VM Ware work a lot better

I will try it out see what happens. I guess I could always convert it then upgrade it once its up and running as a VM.

5.0.72 is for CCC, you need 5.0.27 for VMpro...:-)
VMware works perfect, I also use it for demos on customer site. Easy if you need to switch configs or pc's/server.
