Would any of you encounter this issue.

I'm getting on and off echo on none, several or all extention.

The data and voice is seperated on diffent VLAN with QoS on the Voice.

calls going over analogue lines?

not a possible solution. Both would cost several thousand dollars.

Avaya or my reseller, that did the network design. Did not let em know about these issue.

We are in a remote community, PRI are not available.

A situation that could have been avoided with a knowledgable and competent Business Partner selling and installing the system

Or with a BCM; if the network setup is right, never have problems with echo on IP sets over analog trunks...

Too bad they're dying!

You know, putting a smiley next to a flaming comment doesn't make it more acceptable.

I'm saying, for all the complexity of the IPO, the build is pretty cheap.

yanklan, this is an IPO Forum, so your initial comment is actually unacceptable. :-) :-) :-) :-)

Maybe it is; just pointing out that many other manufacturers have solved this problem long ago; also maybe the TC doesn't know how to correct this issue in IPO. Either way, saying switch to PRI is pretty weak and short-sighted as a solution; don't know where the other guy is (US,EUR) from, but analog is here to stay for a while still, with cable companies like Cogeco, Videotron, Rogers, Comcast, Verizon flooding the market with analog gateways. You (Avaya) either support it the right way, or not at all. It is NOT up to the COs to adapt to each and every system; it's the other way around.

Actual answer should have looked like "unfortunately, IPO is ill-conceived for analog lines; unless you can switch to ISDN, you should look at another solution"; then a smiley! ;)

Turn off the ACG on those phones. That has helped me in the past. . .

Personally, I've had more issues with BCM/IP phone/analog lines than with IPO/IP sets/analog lines. The 'automatic line tuning' in the BCM didn't work all that well. The auto impedance matching in the IPO seems to work better. On some old BCMs I ended up using the Sandman 'Echo Stopper', which worked pretty well until something went out of whack on the lines, then it was just a adjustment of the echo stopper. The acceptable specs for analog trunks in NA is pretty broad to put it nicely.

BCM fans can put the flamethrowers down. This is just my opinion, not scientific fact.

Don't get me wrong, no fanboy here. I've installed hundreds of them and my share of problems (mainly one-way or no speech path), rarely echo post-4.0. At least I can admit to limitations of my (former) products and not be a sheep. It's just that analog is still around and popular.

BTW Chauny, that IS a constructive answer.

Analog lines and IP is and has always been a problem.
The analog signal must be converted a different way then ISDN is converted which is digital already.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

this was the actual info I was looking for.

the IPO and all other switches deal with it in a round about way. its still heavily dependant on line factors, and getting the lines checked might be a good place to start.

if you plug a normal telephone into the line, do you get delay on speech, or is there any noise?
