One quick note - with the choices listed there, you have to go with the Ti4200 (64 or 128 will do) if you want to stretch. If you want to spend a little less, hit the 9100 Pro. But, if you would like to go hunting, or get a used card, a Radeon 8500 (buy a retail Built by ATI card - this is...
My first guess would be some kind of interference, but I would first test a different monitor with your system to see if it could possibly be something with it, first.
Just one quick note - DDR400 is not useless and overhyped. The key is to match your buses - if you are running: 166FSB, use DDR333 - 133FSB, use DDR266 - 200FSB, use DDR400. The reason that it is thought of as useless is when run asynchronously with a lower speed bus (such as Athlons are...
Just my quick .002 cents...
This may be a bit off, but with the symptoms you're describing I would at least try another stick of RAM. It's just doing the strange things that I've seen bad RAM do...

Don't feel bad - I need a new video card and it sure is hard convincing myself not to buy a GF4 Ti4600...
As for that memory, supposedly that board can use it to it's potential but you will have to overclock to use it. Keep in mind that PC2100 is equal to a 133 FSB (what the XP runs at...

I have a Dragon. If I were you, I wouldn't skimp on the memory or the power supply. You can run 1 stick of RAM, but make sure it's quality - I like Crucial for compatibility and stability. Maybe look at Corsair or Mushkin for more performance. Also, make sure you get a...
Just a quick thought...
Try disabling the Plug 'n' Play OS setting in CMOS (tell the board that the OS is not Plug 'n' Play aware). That will let the board determine your IRQs instead of the OS. It works wonders sometimes...

This may take a little time, but it might be able to figure out your problem quickly...
Disconnect everything except for your video card, memory and cpu. Short your CMOS (via jumper, per motherboard manual). Boot. See if you get a screen. If not, try a PCI video card. Boot again. This...
Just my two cents...
Let us know what the motherboard is... there are quite a few people here that will let you know what you can do with it right off the top of their heads. We don't know if it will support Coppermines, 133Mhz FSB or what... give us the board's name and you'll get a quick...
Just my two cents...
I deal with this all the time on the OptiPlex GX1. If you are running only one drive you need to set the primary master to auto (in BIOS) and the secondary master to none. Should get rid of your problem if it's what I see all the time...

I was a newbie to setting up a home network until about two weeks ago. As far as I'm concerned, there are probably two ways to do this that would work best for you.
1. Two NICs in one computer, one in the other. Straight-thru cable from DSL modem to first computer, then...
Just my two cents...
I've had a Soyo K7V Dragon Plus and an Asus A7V. My experience with the Soyo is that it has a lot of great features that probably save you money in the long run. But, I haven't been able to get Win98SE to run on it very well - WinXP works great, though. Also, you need at...
I need to take a PIII 800/133 Slot 1 out of its current environment and give it a better home. I used to love the Abit BE6-II rev 2, but I don't think it will support it.
How about a little poll about your favorite Slot 1 Mobo that will support this processor? Let me know what you think.
Run into this problem myself a few times... When it happens we usually just start taking numbers that are printed on the board itself (not the chips, etc.) and start plunking them into search engines. 90% of the time one of them will come up with the manufacturer of the board and you can hunt...
Just a quick idea - I've had trouble with incompatible RAM doing strange things to onboard video and sound. You may want to try a different stick and see if it changes anything.
Or you could throw in a controller card for the hard drive, get a little extra cooling and crank up the Front Side Bus to start using some of that extra performance; but, then again, I'm just a psycho... (and I love those boards)
To be very clear, your board will support 4 sticks of 256Mb RAM (PC100 or PC133). You need to decide how much you want; I have read that Windows 95/98/ME will run approx. 196Mb most efficiently (by this I mean that you get good performance gains to there, less after), unless you are running...
Maybe I'm just being naive, but it doesn't sound like you did anything to the BIOS - sounds like you just messed up the CMOS settings. If that's the case, all you should have to do is clear the CMOS with the jumper (see motherboard man.). Then it should boot with fail-safe defaults. Go back...
