    Congrats.....Welcome back to the real world of computing. Now then...for your sound card problem....try running a diagnostic such as AIDA: http://www.aida32.hu/aida-download.php?bit=32 or "Sysoft Sandra". They will tell you what drivers you need and even give you direct links for them...

    Fonts are NOT your problem. You have something else causing you to "not load". But here's a tip: go into your "fonts" folder...deleye EVERYTHING that doesn't have the same date as your OS. You don't use them anyway. ...Mac Humpty Dumpty was pushed!!

    Screw all that. Just delete it's "program" folder, and use a reg cleaner like jv-16 to dump all the crap from the registry. I NEVER trust any program to remove all it's own crap. ...Mac Humpty Dumpty was pushed!!

    SP4 is a dog. Run without it until M$ figures out how to make it right. Some folks have SP$ running fine. I have tried to install SP$ 3 times and ended up with a trashed system. I WILL NOT TRY AGAIN. ...Mac Humpty Dumpty was pushed!!

    Trashing XP is the best thing you could ever do to a pc...but I agree.....just make a new partition and put 2k as primary. Keep XP in case you ever want to play etch-a-sketch. ...Mac Humpty Dumpty was pushed!!
