I have a W2K machine with 2 NIC's, 1 card hosting a cable modem, the another card is connected to a hub for my LAN.

I also have an XP Pro machine on the LAN, both machines can communicate with each other, accessing shared drivers and printers, both machines appears in network neighborhood, but the XP Pro machine will not go out to the net through the W2K pro machine.

I have enabled ICS on the NIC connected to the web on the W2K machine, the second NIC has a static IP address of 192.168.0.1. When you turn on the XP Pro it is assigned an I.P. of 192.168.0.211.

Why wont the XP machine access the net?

Please help

Cheers

J

It sounds like the Gateway address is wrong.

For the client the Gateway address should be 192.168.0.1
