Moving a phone with sidecar to another user. Phone works fine but sidecar looks like its not even getting power. All options in IP Office Manager are identical to old settings. Have swapped out sidecar, cables, phone but no joy. It's probably something basic. Please help.

Thanks,

What type of phone? did it have a local power supply? did you move that.

Sounds like an EU24 to me.
Delete both users and create them again.

If it is an UE24, you could also try rebooting the system and that should allow the system to recognize it at the new position. I've done this before and it has worked for me.

Power supply yes, phone 5420

have the external power source.

Tele - reboot phone? or Avaya system? We are trying to recreate user now.

thanks all!

Tom - Yes started at 25.

Recreating user did not fix it.

The cable from the supply to the 5420 Phone has to be fully wired not just the 4-5 pair. The power from the Avaya brick will come over pair 7-8.

Outlet <-> Powerbrick <-> 5420 <-> EU24.

I've seen customers moving phones around and using the simple 2-wire phonecable to connect the 5420 to the powersupply thus not feeding the EU24 as the phone does not get the 48V extra power.

I was saying to reboot the IP Office. I had a location that when moving the EU24 from one location to another, it wouldn't see it until I rebootes the IP System.

are you 100% sure you have the correct cable from the EU24 to the phone. using the wrong one will not let the Eu24 start or even break it.

how many EU24's do you have on the system?
The number of EU24's is restricted to eight on the system, I am not sure if there is a restriction per module.
if it is the EU24BL that has a backlight then is is for use with the 4621 and 5621 only.

One thing I hadn't mentioned that may be important is that this user already has an Avaya and sidecar at a different site on our domain.

I've had an EU24 stop working when the cable from the power supply to the phone went bad.. Try changing out that cable.

I've swapped out sidecar and cables. It is not hardware. The only thing I thought of was that she hot-desks between two sites.

Time to get an Avaya Tech in to have a check about me thinks.

this is what I would do
check the power supply by plugging in an Avaya IP set, if it lights up good?
next
use that same cable you use for the 5420 and plug that into the IP set still works good?
next
take a cable tester and test the cable from the 5420 to the EU24 and make sure all wires are good (straight through) also tests good?
next
swap out the phone try if no luck
next
try the new phone with a new EU24

if that also doesn't work get an exorcist

thought I have one right beside me and looked at it to confirm, it is straight through but it is a DBM32 for the 1400 series and not a EU24 haha
