Just want to know what do your guys prepare for disaster recovery except IPO server edition solution. My situation like this: we have IPO 500 v2 unit installed on 7 locations and so far they're running good but I've been thinking if one of unit died, how can I bring up the voice connection in the shortest time. prepare extra unit for standing by aside or any better idea?
Thanks a lot!

Purchase spare IP Office 500v2 have current configs for all sites available when needed. But you still would need to go through your BP to transfer any licenses for the site.

You mean the vendor who provide service for IPO? we maintain the system by ourselves and the Licenses we have are from different source.

you would need to have the licenses transfer from where you purchased them from, you can not do this yourself

You only need to transfer licenses if you can't swap the original SD card into the replacement chassis for some reason so unlikely to be an issue (if you lose the SD you'll need a new one and new licenses).

So the basics is simply a spare chassis.

Next depends on the number and type of extensions at each site and the type of lines all of which you didn't say. For example, if using phones that need DS ports, with 7 site having couple of spare DS8 will also allow quick response when site X needs to expand.

If its IP phones then look at the resilience features. The different system can provide short term cover for each other. Its the same features as in Server Edition but just needs a big more manual configuration.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

If your 7 systems are in a proper SCN setup and you have IP phones, one of the other systems will provide resiliency while you're getting a replacement chassis and/or cards in place.

If your systems are R8.0+, you need a real Essential edition licence on the SD cards for the smoothest transition (and you don't need to swap any dongles as long as there new chassis is a 500v2)

Kind regards

Gunnar

All of systems are 500 v2 8.0, so if the licenses transfer is not a case, I'll get ready for a spare unit.

I'd get a spare VCM card too, they're really cheap if you buy the VCM32v2. They don't give the free 12 x IP endpoints though.

Could be an idea to fire up the spare and make it ready to run in advance, if time is of the essence.
And if you move the live systems up to R8.1+, do the same thing with the spare box.
(You don't need to buy a separate upgr licence for the spare, it will accept the one on the SD from the downed system.)

Kind regards

Gunnar

Exactly the same situation I am in. We have 7 systems in place with 4 or 5 more coming in the near future. I keep a spare chassis, DS8 card, ATM4 trunk card, and combo card on the shelf. It is fully licensed, so that I can experiment with new features in a test environment as I learn the system , until the powers that be decide to allow me to attend the next training class. We use the same 2 models of phones at each location, and have spare phones here. THe only down time I have will be travel to the site. This is one of the many things I have come to love about this system, a (relatively) cheap disaster kit on the shelf!
