I need to hire an Engineer who has real deep experience with G3r issues. I am battling Sync issues and it is getting worse as time goes on. I can not get support form local partners and AVAYA has not been returning phone calls. Long story.... Anyone know of where I can find this expertise that will be able to come on site for a day and look into my issues? Willing to pay T&M while onsite. site is in the Orange County, NY area.

What do you mean "sync" issues? Are you making ref to external CTI Applications that are having sync issues and/or internal raw PBX sync issues?

Zowwie438 - Internal Sync Issues I believe between cabinets and a remote site. I get all these SNI-PEER problems. My calls to the call center get stuck in Queue, I hear clicking/popping noises, strange internal calling uissues. I have posted before here:

rgtrgt - How can I get ahold of you and what is your experience level?

Thanks!!

TheCardMan... We had a similar problem here at my company! It was with CM3.x and it took Avaya for every to find it!

We suffered with odd behavior for a little over a year and it finally hit the fan when our MAPD cards that communicate to external CTI's started to lock up.

I can't recall the specific alarms thrown on the PBX, but the source of the problem was VERY SIMPLE!!!

The internal networking components of the PBX that communicated to other cabinets or components were LAN based. Their duplex settings were set at HALF duplex instead of FULL and this was resulting in huge latency issues that were VERY difficult to track down!

Once the duplex settings were changed, all was well!

If your system does utilize LAN based communication... You will want to check not only the internal IP settings of the PBX, but that of any dependecies as well (network folks and switches, hubs and routers... Ohh my!).

I hope this helps and regretfully, I can't travel! I can only work by remote do to a nasty divorce and my obligations to visitation to my son.

But if you think that your issues may be related to duplex settings... Feel free to contact me on here and if it works, I'll take a bass boat with at least a 90HP outboard! LOL

Good luck and I hope my insights help you.

try to set pnc, make sure your sync source is there

She is still not happy TheCardMan?? Were you able to get any of them out?? We worked on it for a while there.

Your SNI-PEER error is mentioned here page 485 of 890:

The connectivity of these devices is noted on page 423 of 890 and I ref'd as "fiber links".

An explanation of how sync works is on page 503 of 890 and includes a diagram of the master slave relationship.

Statrum 3 and 4 sync is described around pages 504/505 of 890 and troubleshooting is explained on 506+ with some really nice diagrams!

I also noticed that there is a setting that allows the PBX to get it's timing from the ATM network as well. If this is enabled, your prob could be there.

Page 520 describes the LED lights of the cards and how it relates to timing.

Well... From what I have read, it looks like it may be pretty involved, but I hope that link helps ya out.

Good luck and best wishes.

Hey Mikey, how are you! Still the same stuff. Getting worse though. I a so afraid of taking anything out of service risking the box not comming back online again. I am trying to get someone physically here to take a look and see if anything can be done. I can not shake those active alarms, and when the switch goes into its panic state the number of alarms rise and after about 3 minutes the alarms disappear and all is back to normal. Normal being the 10 Active SNI-PEER alarms still showing.

rgtrgt - when I go to Set PNC it is waiting for me to say LOCK or UNLOCK. Which would I do and will it be service affecting?

Thanks Zowwie438 - Could have alot to do with it, I will give it a read to see if I can get anything out of it. But I think I need the second set of eye's to see if this can be resolved. My leds on the alarm boards are flashing RED at all times, I have a red led on a power supply in the bottom of my second cabinet. I have a red alarm light on my announcement board in the second cabinet. And I have a red alarm light on the MSSNET board in the main cabinet.

Also - Zowwie438 - This is a G3r running R6 - Old and outdated.......I have a Audix Rls4.4, CMS Rls3 workstation running on a Sun machine and a 72 port Conversant IVR. Main site has 2 cabinets and remote site in Canada has 1 cabinet that is not survivable. (Connected with 2 point to point circuits)

Oh - and also has a Stratsoft Predictive Dialer in the Canada office with a link back to main office PBX via a dedicated point to point circuit.

is there anyway you can give one of us remote access to the pbx? what permission levels do you have?

The SNI peer alarms are more than likely one link between the processor and an EPN. If you get one you may have 10 I have seen it.

Also the Rice crispies sounds effects also point back to a bad link (SNI or EI board), slot or fiber transceiver. Could also be an old copper connection.

As long as you do not have any troubles on the processor itself, you will be pretty safe in it coming back up should you need to replace something. These are bullet proof machines and actually like being turned off sometimes. It cleans them up. But if I remember correctly this is a simplex machine with MSS-NET or host adapter alarms, so you may not have backups of your translations. So you may need to get the optical disk drives (or old tapes) working, save trans, backup disk full, before shutting it down to keep from loosing your translations.

Can you give me the current alarms of your equipment? Enter "display alarms" and "disp errors"

G3r equipments are very stable, send me some alarms then lets define everything. If your Seeing SYNC alarms, pick a DS1 board with the known good clocking with Telco (meaning you haven't experience any downtime on the trunk terminated on it) then enter "change sync" then enter your desired DS1 board

TheCardMan

Post alarms and errors and i will work with you today as well. We can tag team this thing and see if we can get some of the alarms out today for you.

All

I really think we need to work on the MSS-NET stuff first to be able to keep the translations. What do you guys think??

rgtrgt

Is he far away from you?? He may need someone on site too. If you decide to help him, let me know if you need anything. Not sure if he has manuals but i do and will help you determine error codes if you need it.

i'm a little more than an hour away, i was hoping one of us could access the pbx remotely & have him as our eyes & hands.

Mickeydidit / rgtrgt / uzumaki-

I am out and will be back on Wednesday. I will try to see if I can have someone in the office post the current alarm status and errors to this thread today. I can then touch base with you on Wednesday or later in the week. I can have dig pics also if you need to physically look at something.

Thanks for all your help!!
