I need to hire an Engineer who has real deep experience with G3r issues. I am battling Sync issues and it is getting worse as time goes on. I can not get support form local partners and AVAYA has not been returning phone calls. Long story.... Anyone know of where I can find this expertise that will be able to come on site for a day and look into my issues? Willing to pay T&M while onsite. site is in the Orange County, NY area.

This is a lot easier than ASA and you will have more than ASA can do.(Free 10 day trial version)
dwalin has the same fear that I do. (Good to see you BTW dwalin)

Being you can not get a proper backup in place, at least this will give you a electronic backup that you can place in an excel speed sheet and load back into ASA, if you loose something. This is just something and something beats
nothing every time. But we may be able to fix it without shutting it down, depending on what alarms are against it now.

Mikey - Thanks I did try that UtilCall. I used Call Flow Extract and it pulled all the Vector, VDN, Hunt Group, COR. But not station info.

I am going to start to export everything out of ASA GEDI. Not sure how to import it back in, but I can figure that out later.

Suggest you get a DS1 test set on your primary sync source. Good chance you are wandering 50-150 cycles. Problem is that the PBX tries too hard to keep up with a bad sync. Usually over 200 it will give up. Strange symptoms will include console lock-up, error log showing drop/conf unstable calls, digital packs going to sleep, etc....

Use the list measurement ds1 summary to check for errors on your primary sync. Status sync to verify you are actually on it and not on the internal clock. If DS1 ESF errors are 65565 clear the ds1 esf errors since this is the 16 bit max.

Sync source should be in cabinet 1. If you have multiple vendors and they are not using the same local transport try a different sync source.

Find out how far away you are from the copper termination to the central office. Also have seen a lot of timing issues related to LEC bringing in services on ATM without good sync.

Hope this is helpful.

CardMan,

The only reason you have errors on your T1's is because of your sync. You must "change ds1 xxxx" and turn on "slip detection" for the two boards listed as your primary and secondary sync sources. You aren't letting the boards sync the system because you have them set to "n". You can set all others to "n" that are not your primary and secondary. The screen shot you gave of 1b11 being the primary will need to be changed because I believe I read in the thread that you do not have a T1 on that board anymore. You want your primary and secondary to be active T1's and you want the slip detection field turned on in the ds1 form. You can change these on the fly since technically right now you have no time sync at all on your T1's. "clear measurements ds1" (hit f5, I don't remember the rest) to reset the counters on your DS1 boards. Shouldn't see anymore errored seconds once you have the sync set right.

Thanks Jimbo & Chandler

I did change the Primary to an active T1. I will check the slip detection on both. I will check the measurements and clear them.

I have started "Part II" of this thread because this one is so long. So follow up status will be posted there.

Thanks Again

Joe
