I need to hire an Engineer who has real deep experience with G3r issues. I am battling Sync issues and it is getting worse as time goes on. I can not get support form local partners and AVAYA has not been returning phone calls. Long story.... Anyone know of where I can find this expertise that will be able to come on site for a day and look into my issues? Willing to pay T&M while onsite. site is in the Orange County, NY area.

you can remove anything associated with those circuits which you do not need, so if a trunk group had a signal group remove it also. actually you cant remove the ds1 board until you remove the signal group. on wednesday possibly we can exchange how i can access your system

I think he was lucky enough to inherit this. I bet they didn't tell him the switch was this bad when he applied.... Talk about job security..

If you can't save the translations in the R-media you might replace it aswell. As of the moment, R-medias are end-of-sale and support in avaya. You can look at E-bay for refurbished ones. Because we need to recover your translations. Its gonna be a tough one if we dont.

Can the R-Media be removed and replaced while switch is still online?

Phoneguy55 - There is a long story behind why this switch is the way it is currently. I am here to hold it together for the next year until I change over to newer technology, we are in the middle of a move transition. We run a 24x7 call center here and if that fails we will have no business to move.

Just wanted to drop a note on the status of this. I work with TheCardMan and actually I was the one that inherited this monstrosity first and have been trying to to maintain it or replace for almost 3 years now... I will be here today and tomorrow while my partner is away... I just finished reading the entire thread and If I was reading correctly, the firstthing we need to do is save translations on a new rem-disk and disk-drive....I will start looking for that this afternoon..

Meanwhile, Today we had a system wide "hiccup" that lasted over 20 mins. I know that the problem is the link between the EI and SNI boards in the main processor cabinet, we just have to work backwards to ensure that when we try to change either the boards or the link, that we can still still get her to open her eyes and remember who she is...

Status as of Today:

I removed all DS1's that were not needed
Removed the Signaling Group 3
Cnaged the Sync Primary to another astive DS1 board in the 1st cabinet (1b14).

Ready for the next steps....What should be done next?

Not yet, status health is still the same. It has been about 1.5 hours since I made the changes.

Run the "clear errors and "test ala l cl" and see if some of them clear out for you.

What will happen if I remove the MSS/Network (UN332c) circuit pack while the switch is running? I would like to replace this to see if it is bad, but do not want to take the switch down.

Can the R-Media be removed and replaced while switch is still online?

Mikey/RGT,

Did we answer this question yet?

RGT,

Did you ever work for RGT in NYC?

Code:
list configuration carrier 1e

Thats going to be a tough one. The book says to shut it down in a simplex system, although I have replaced them hot in a duplex system. The commands would be busy host 1a, and then remove the board and replace it. Then release host 1a. But it may not be the optical disk thats the problem. It could be the MSS-Net pack or the disk. I would do a lot of testing before taking action here.

It may also necessary to have rgtrgt or some of his people come out and work on it. You do not want to loose the translations during this.
