The SNI peer alarms are more than likely one link between the processor and an EPN. If you get one you may have 10 I have seen it.
Also the Rice crispies sounds effects also point back to a bad link (SNI or EI board), slot or fiber transceiver. Could also be an old copper connection.
As long as you do not have any troubles on the processor itself, you will be pretty safe in it coming back up should you need to replace something. These are bullet proof machines and actually like being turned off sometimes. It cleans them up. But if I remember correctly this is a simplex machine with MSS-NET or host adapter alarms, so you may not have backups of your translations. So you may need to get the optical disk drives (or old tapes) working, save trans, backup disk full, before shutting it down to keep from loosing your translations.
Hell, there are no rules here - we're trying to accomplish something.
