Best way to import bulk numbers to add as speed dials (while adding extn to use in short codes)? 2

In the next week or so, I'm going to be tasked with adding approximately 300 phone numbers, for which each I'll need to assign a speed dial. I'm told I'll receive a spreadsheet of names and DID numbers. From that, I'm hoping to just add the necessary columns for extension/speed dial# and import the information.

We're on IPO v9 and I'm finding conflicting info here regarding mass importing of directory info. Is the functionality still possible?

I promise I've made good use of the F1 and/or Help functions, but I seem to come away with more questions than answers.

You can import them as directory entries from CSV containing name, number and index. Then create a short code like #9xxx/short dial/N to use them.

Create one entry manually and export directory to have a look at the CSV format.

I see a lot of questioneers here receiving very helpfull tips without any response not even a single thank you.
It is not to offense you BWB8771, you at least said "Thank you" and I appriciate that but I get irritated from time to time seeing that people take the time to give a good and helpfull reply without a response and then I trow a reaction in between now and then.
It is like kicking against the trash can, useless but it helps against frustration...

When I press either 7007, or *7007, I make it no further than the first 0 and the phone indicates "CALL REJECTED" (SysLog indicates "CMCauseCallRejected").

Do I need a "DN" instead of N in the Tel # field?

Your shortcode isn't unique, change it to *#N and try again

If you don't use the short code like 7XXX IPO will not know if you are done because index numbers can be two (for user's personal directory) or three digits (system directory)

I created a short code *98XXX/speed dial/N/line group as needed

Then I made a button action abbreviated dial and *98 for action. One button press followed by the 3 digit index and it dials.

Thank you, folks! The 7XXX worked. And, thanks for the "Directory overrides barring" aspect that I'll keep in mind in case we have numbers that won't work when others do.

I've now been provided with the names and extension numbers to import.

NOW my issue is that the 450 numbers they want me to import use 4-digit extension numbers from 2500 to 7500.

The directory only allows for index numbers 0-999.

Do you folks know of a way I could configure our system to use different indexing scheme?

[FYI: I reviewed this thread, but using dial-by-name won't fly with these folks]

The directory is for external numbers (like customers numbers and taxi numbers etc), not extension numbers/users and external callers have no access to it.
I think you have misunderstood its purpose

I believe I'm clear on the function it was designed to support. Here's a snippet of the CSV I would like to import.

This directory is the same at the three other satellite offices around the country, so I was asked to find a way to use the same approach with ours. (They are on ShoreTel)

They want to be able to dial that first guy via 5580 no matter which office they're in.
