ASBCE upgrade from 8.1 to latest

I have never worked with the Avaya SBC and a customer has one from the previous vendor. They are a 24/7 operation

I have some dumb basic questions because I am unsure after reading several of the manuals.

1. do I need to buy new licenses for the new firmware
2. step upgrade, yes, does anyone have the firmware steps at hand
3. how long does each step take
4. how likely is it to go sideways when I do this

and no I cannot call their old vendor and outsource it as much as I would love to.

Hello derfloh

it is a hardware SBC and it had some hiccups in the last year and needed to get rebooted twice so we hope that the update might give it a bit more stability.

I am not sure TBH have not been on site in a year or so. It is an Avaya branded small box. I can find out if that makes a difference.
Nothing is easy I guess. It might be cheaper to get a new one in there that is a Non-Avaya one.

I googled it and it is this one, maybe there is only one of them that it can be

If it's a Portwell box it is not supported.

I will ask the customer still to take a picture of the model number just in case my memory would suck more than usual and it may be a different box.
