On the Domain Controller create a group policy that assigns a login script that uses the NET LOCALGROUP command.
You can use this command to add a Domain Security Group to the local machine.
In other words:
1. create a security group on the domain level that is your 'super user' group
2...
I am not sure what you mean by 4 responses. Do you mean you are resolving one Name to 4 addresses?
First, even though this server will provide DNS for internet only (not intranet), you will still need to be able to reach *some* of the internal devices (i.e. proxy server, domain controller...
I will assume that you attempted to give permission back to them but did not have the permission to do so?
Try a couple of things,
1. Change the permissions on one mailbox and add yourself as full control. Then change the permissions back.
If that does not work (which it probobly wont...
Just a thought for you - IIS Change Password is considerd a large security hole. I would not recommend enabling it. Microsoft has a utility called IISLockdown (or something similar***warning do not run this without understanding it*****) that will also disable this feature. My thoughts on...
cybersaur is right, also remember, the email address will be established based on the policy schedule and the address book update schedule (sorry for the lack of technical terms - if you need the proper ones, let me know)

The little blue arrow means that the message will attempt resending based on the Virtual SMTP Server's settings. You can check them by looking at the properties of the SMTP Virtual server in the Exchange System Manager.

Have you tried copying the profile to the server and settting the users profile as roaming? This may be the same as logging in as the 3rd ID, but it may steer you in the right direction!

Can you restrict logon hours say from 12:00AM to 11:58PM. Therefore forcing the user to log back-in after that 2 minute period therefore every morning the users would recieve the update when they log in?
Just a thought.....(Although it does not relate directly to your topic, I cant resist a...
Do you use roaming profiles or local profiles?
Check poledit.exe and see if you see any permission errors/misconfiguration on the 98 boxes. I do not have a 98 machine in front of me, but I am pretty sure you can use it to change registry security settings. Make sure you know what you are...
Are these applications being run from a shared drive? If they are, check the permissions on the share.
Are the user profiles roaming? If they are, try creating a super user group on the domain and adding a user to it, and see if that user still has the same problem. Also make sure that the...
I would try a couple of things before I reinstalled.
First, Try running install cd and choosing the recovery console option. Then from the recovery console, replace the autochk.exe file with the one from the cd (or better yet, replace it with a copy off the latest service pack(if you need...
Is this a clean install or preloaded? try running msinfo32.exe and checking the 'startup program' make sure you are not running anything you dont need. Also check the event view and see if there are any error messages. Make sure no scheduled tasks are running in the background. In addtion...
Check your autoexec.nt and config.nt in the c:\windows\system32 directory (make sure you make a backup). Sometimes they limit what you can do in a dos app, and in your case, they may be running something that you do not want.

Another thought for you. Make sure you are not enableing or select a PNP/OS. I know that W2K is considered a PNP OS BUT when this comes to the BIOS this means that it will not do any IRQ assignments, it will rely on Windows. The result may be that the video card forces itself to IRQ 11 and...
I would need a little more detail....What is your w2k server using as it's dns? (i.e. setting the dnsserver to resolve names from an external source=failure on localmachine)
What will this machine be resolving intranet or internet?
how are your zones configured?
You should copy all of the files in the winnt\repair folder and the winnt\system32\config.
Win2k uses the winnt\system32\config files to dynamically load each time you boot. And the winnt\repair directory when you restore from CD.
Just my thoughts
Good question. Check the permissions on the sysvol on the server and the c$ share on the offending users desktop. I vaguely recall an issue with incorrect permissions.
Just a point in a direction. May not be right, but maybe it will spark some other ideas.
Or if it is just one machine, you can place a copy in the c:\documents and settings\all users\desktop
sorry if I am over simplifying your question, I did not want to leave this option out.
