To restore from tape, you will need a Netware server to restore to. This is beacue backups to tape in Netware use TSA's (Target Service Agents) to help package the data to tape, but they are also needed to un-package the data from tape... Since these TSA's are a Novell thing and not available...
When you re-installed, did you re-create the Group1? In the Device Manager screen, go to Device Groups and see what the group name is. If you are trying to run jobs created on the old system, it is possible that the old group does not exist.
Not that I am aware of, but what you want is a SAN. Get Fibre cards and cables for the machines, a fibre bridge to connect your scsi tape library too and then fibre switch to connect the whole system. Then you need Backup software that can coordinate sharing the library between all the servers.
Turn on the Tape.log in the Server Admin and run the tapecopy again, it should show information about what is happening while trying to get the tapes ready..
The Backup to disk should be about the same speed as a copy of files to that same disk, can you use that to get an idea of where the pefformance should be?
Try copying a set of folders from one of the remote machines to a folder on the target machine and based on the amoutn of data and the time...
Sounds like the Tape Egnine might be crashing... Did you re-configure the library after the new one was connected? Try running TLO Setup again and then try the Tape Engine again.
Does your Library have a Barcode reader? If so, this should speed up the inventory process, after the first time it is invetoried and as long as you have enabled the Barcode setting...
Also, make sure that you start the Database Engine first, then the Tape Engine, this way the tape info can be...
The probkem is the Agent connection has timed out. I believe there should be some documentation in the agent user guide on how to set the Agent Timouts...
