I have found MemTurbo 2.1 to be extremely helpful with this problem, been using it for about 2 months now and not a problem since. I would definitely suggest trying it out. Good Luck :)
Thanks, but I already tried that, no luck. Plus the fact the version of 98SE I have is a clean install disk, can't reinstall over windows with it. Thus my troubles.
Registry is fine, been up and down and all over it. When Norton's is disabled, the system just crashes, at least with that running I have a chance to reboot properly. Sorry, but thanks :)
What OS are you running? It is possible to setup two harware configurations that you choose at boot up. I did this on a previous machine because of games hanging. Create a new configuration and disable everything you don't use with the games then install the old soundblaster under that...
Do you have the drivers for the AMD processor installed from the AMD website? I did this and it helped on my ME machine. Also might want to try an active memory recovery utility, I use MemTurbo 2.1 and am delighted with it. Very useful,,, lots of options. Good Luck :)

Have you tried going to Network settings in the control panel and changing the log on settings to Windows logon? this usually takes out all network logon messages. Good Luck :)
Darn, thought that would do it, have you tried completely reinstalling the video card? Remove it completely from the computer under the Device Manager and then reboot, reinstall drivers, and resetup your desktop appearance settings. Do I have this correct? You aren't able to apply changes in the...
