System needs to be licensed using PLDS.
You need an upgrade license

I formatted my SD card (9.1) and attempted to recreate it at 11 but it would not, due to missing files. I found the missing files in 9.1 manager and loaded them in the R11 manager but it would not allow a recreate. Has anyone had this problem.

So we have seen issues going from 9.1 directly to 11.0 in both the server edition and with the IP500 upgrades.

Weird stuff like security settings do not work unless you do a reset. Configurations defaulting but, the IP address stay the same.

Since those issue we have done phased up grades instead 9.1 to 10 to 10.1 then to 11. a couple was 9.1 to 10.1 to 11.0 they all seem to go fine no issues.

Once we got systems upgraded to 11.0 SP we found a problem with Visual vm being Chinese. A nice bug confirmed by Avaya and they had a patch for.

We have also had issue with missing web management files when recreating the SD card. I don't remember which files were missing. Seems 11.0 is a bit flaky to say the least.

Where is the patch for the Korean text bug on visual vm? I poked around and couldn't find it.

Nvm, looks like you have to open a ticket to obtain the patch. WTH why??

IP Office 9.1 UCM
Unable to upgrade UCMV2 from 9.1 SP 8 to 11 SP1. Files are unable to be pulled.

Problem Clarification
Upgrading from 9.1 to 11.0 fails due to required files not being present in the ISO

Cause
MESA-DRI driver files are not present in the upgrade ISO file

Solution
Step upgrade the UCM from 9.1 to 10.1 and then to 11.0. This will allow the upgrade to succeed.

Per Tier 4, a step upgrade must be used in this case. Here is their explanation:
The table from knowledgeable says that you can make an upgrade using Web Manager starting from R 9.1.
Also, you can upgrade the unit by only skipping 2 major releases like (9.1 -> 10.1) . An upgrade from 9.1 to 11.0 directly is not supported (should be done progressively).

So, upgrades should never be done between more than two major releases. Upgrading between three major releases is not supported.

The knowledge base documentation is in the process of being updated. This process should be completed with the next service pack of 11.0 (SP 3).

make sure the ip500 is above PCS 14 or you will need to do a stepped upgrade

Then I want to go and bust some heads there.

The Tech Bulletin doesn't say that. It clearly states that you can go as of 9.0 to 11 (or better they say it is just like 10.0)

So AGAIN they screwed up and now claim that it is our fault for following their sh!tty documentation.

It can't be THAT hard to either bring an addendum or other sort of clarification when they discover a problem that does not require us to spend 8 hours a day to sift through their impossible website. They seem to think that all we do is wait on the screen to discover that they released a new document that they now want us to do something different instead of taking the tech bulletin and adjusting it with a big red font. Major Server Edition upgrade is an upgrade from one major release series to another release series, including Feature Packs (FP). For example, 8.1 GA to 8.1 FP or 8.1 FP to 9.0 SP or 9.1 FP to 10.0 GA

I like the consistency.

Regarding licenses a major version is the first number, 9.x, 10.x, 11,x, but apparently regarding upgrading a Server Edition the change between for example 9.1GA and 9.1FP is considered a major version.
Someone has to get them to clean up their mess and standardize things, this is just ridiculous.

What makes me crazy is that the answer is like :
OK, our doc is crappy, and will drive you to a system brick.
All is OK, we wrote in 1847 that it is not possible, even we wrote that is possible, it is not, and if you done it, it is your fault.
If one could say documentation is false, no problemo, when the next major version will be out, our knowledgebase will sure be updated.
Have a nice day :)
