twinning licences, 406v2, and remote dongles

hi, we have had a few ocassions where the ip406v2 (4.0.14
) will loose the remote license server, when finds again, the twinning has dropped off, either have to go back in and reload cfg file, or select each user for twinning again,

any one come across any fixes for this?

if succesful we are going to try 10x ip406v2 connected via a wan vpn tunnels with only 1x remote dongle and point the 10x to this license server

I am not a lawyer either, and so my legal advice is probably worth what Tek tips pays me for it, nothing. Besides that in the USA the judges pretty much make up the law as they go along now anyway, and do whatever they want regardless of what the law says.

The IP Office does not talk to the dongle (when it's on a server/PC). The IP Office talks to the key Server service. The Key server service talks to the rainbow sentinel driver to get the serial number of the dongle.

Only the first IP Office to connect to a key server will get responses. Other IP Offices will have invalid licenses.

We've had a case where a system was misconfigured, pointing back at the key server. When systems were rebooted one time, the "edge" IP Office grabbed the key server before the "core" got to it, and the core one came up with all licenses invalid. Once we took the key server entry out of the edge IPO and rebooted again - all was good.

Well, I am probably a classic myself, but I can not remember ever since I got halfziemers. I think its called halfziemers anyway, I can not remember half the chit I used to remember, so it can not be allzhiemers.

hi all, made quite a stir, i have only managed to do this on 406's, ip500's will be out of question as have smartcard/dongle, i think easier to keep each dongle seperate, then no worries if network/wan goes down,
