Running the latest version of IPO on an older SOE platform (no DS ports, 401 I think), upgraded it from 3.x to the latest before I purchased a grey market embedded 64 MB VM card from eBay. This system is my home system which feeds one 46xx SW IP phone and a single analog cordless phone (real basic, not a high-reliablity system).

The card works fine except for the following weirdness:

1. Mixed prompts: Some prompts have a British accent, most do not. I never upgraded the prompts, and I figure if I did that would probably fix it and make them consistent. True? Reading in the forums I see I will need to upload the G723 prompts for the SOE, correct?

2. When record my greeting, there is sometimes a slight loss (cut out) of a half of a second randomly placed in the greeting during caller playback (internal or external calls). In other instances it's fine. Caller recordings seem perfectly fine. Other strangeness is is seems my voice greeting is played back at a slightly SLOWER pace then I recorded it.. This only happens after SAVING it, not during the immediate playback. Anything I should look for in the system monitor?

Any ideas as how I should proceed? These are annoyances more than show stoppers.

First post in these forums (long time reader, first time writer) - This place is a wealth of info for IPO stuff... for which I am grateful.

I would definitely start with upgrading prompts. Once you upgrade to 4.0 or above you'll run into lots of odd issues with this.

In the configuration, make sure to set the TFTP address to the IP Office's LAN port, and the the File Writer address to whatever PC you're going to upgrade the prompts from. Then unzip the G723 files from the admin CD and upgrade the prompts from there. There's instructions in there on how to run the batch files correctly.

Awesome! I'll give it a whirl and post back with results.

I updated my system to 4.2(14) with the latest admin CD download. Updated the prompts on the embedded VM. Strangely the VM prompts are the same... if you get help in the system the help prompts have an British accent, the others are American. I thought this strange, but maybe that's how it is.

Oh well, I just use it as an answering machine and it seems to work well enough.

Thanks for the help.

I think this in a known issue:

CQ38900

Some 4.0 embedded voicemail prompts are spoken in UK English, not US English

So wait for the 4.2 Q2 release.
