I have an Avaya 9611G that is going straight to voicemail. We're running Avaya IP office 9... For the life of me I can't figure out why it's doing this. I've unplugged the phone for a bit, logged it out and back in, compared settings to a working extension, changed the destination to another user/handset and the call comes in. Anyone have an idea on what to check next?

DND & Forwarding should be the first place to check - also forced login

what letters does it have in the display of the phone?

what does system status say when it makes a call?

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

DND and forwarding are both disabled, forced login wasn't checked so I tired checking it still going straight to vm. Forgive my ignorance, what do you mean by what letters are on the display? When I watch the call come in in System Status the Destination End Party is blank then goes to voicemail. I checked the incoming call route and the destination is the correct extension/user.

1) when you go off-hook do you get a steady dialtone or a stutter dialtone? If it is a stutter dialtone, you have dnd or forward active somehow.

2) If you call it internally does the phone ring or does it still go straight to voicemail?

steady tone... Internal calls go straight to VM as well.

Is there a unique user configured for the extension?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

What does monitor show?
Can you make calls with it?
I would delete it and recreate.

remove the user then merge, then rebuild again then merge and then retest

Yea I can call out on it... For some reason I can't get sysmonitor to connect. Deleted the user, merged, created the user, merged... still going to VM. Thanks for everyone's help btw!

Does this user has the same name as the system?
This can cause strange issues :)

Good point Peter, I once had a group that would go straight to VM for that very reason :)

I had that on 8.0.16 with a SIP trunk and i will not forget that one very quickly.
It was never a problem till 8.0

It's a unique user, this just started happening about a week ago. Funny thing is, it's my extension... lol The only changes I've made in the system was when I was testing out a button I was building for a user that dialed our google number we use for international calling. That button's been long gone for a few weeks now.

How about you give yourself a new extn number temporarely.
Reboot the IPO.

Can't say I've seen this before, and the usual suspects has already been mentioned...well other than a corupted config.

IPGuru wanted to know what letters you see on the top left of the display, like G for Group, T for Twinned, R for resilience, B for Barred, etc.

So SSA can't connect? What about Monitor?
Sure you're not using a Manager that is a lower release than the IPO itself?
(Some releases will let you in with an old Manager, and if you manage to merge, your config may start acting out on you.)

Kind regards

Gunnar

Is the handset twinned with another extension?

Dulce et decorum pro Avaya mori
