IP Office with ESS5 D-Channel/PRI having one way transmission

we are cutting over an IP office from a Nortel Option 11, just moving the existing PRI which is formatted ESS5. Results in one way transmission on inbound and outbound calls. PRI shows "In Service". Any suggestions?
 
Wow you get two way when connected to the Option11 and one way with the IPO ?
Did you try the other signaling options ?

It's only dialtone!!!
 
Yeah, we tried NI2 and could not even initiate a call. The PRI would not float up in the IPO. Thus, the ESS5 setup is correct from my view.
 
who is getting the dead air ? IPO end or the far end?
what type of sets are you making calls from ?

IPO can hear, external caller cannot hear, whether inbound our outbound. Sets are 9508.
 
16 yrs I have never seen one way audio on a PRI. Usually the circuit works or it doesn't. strange one.

I would try the analog port with a butt set for test calls
Use system status to see what channel your using or any errors/slips.
Try disabling channnels 20-23 and make a call.
Turn on monitor and see if you can possibly see anything.

Make the provider can change it to NI2 and make life easier for you.

Is this a try ISDN PRI or is it being converted from some sort of IAD or Adtran device?
Maybe try another PRI card for your system also.

straight ISDN PRI from smart jack to IPO. have dual PRI card and tried both ports. Same problem. Also changed config to try ESS4 with same results. Beginning to think the IPO 9.03 is not compatible with ESS5.
 
Are you saying that on the pri field the switch type is set to 5ess?

Hey Smokinjoe and VZtech, that's what we have. We were able to get the carrier to test with us last night and do a temp change to NI2 but we still had the problem. We are awaiting the arrival of a new PRI card/daughter board to test with today. Thanks for all of the interest from you and vztech.
 
what does the smart jack look like? is it in alarm? unplug pri from smart jack and install a ti loop back plug, the smart jack should now be alarm free.make sure, also you state an option 11 pri was configured as 5ess, doesn't sound right as it should have been a dms 100 or 250 for a nortel pbx

Hey Smokinjoe. PRI works great on the Option 11. Smart Jack is good. ESS5 is the interface of the Option 11 trunk route and D-Channel (IFC prompt) because our serving CO was configured that way back when this was originally installed. Thanks
 
So this IP Office you have now is it new? or did it come from another site, sounds like a bad pri card and yes I do know you have a new one being shipped out to you

problem resolved. It was bad hardware. PRI card.
