I understand the need for a SBC in an open internet environment. I discourage my customers from that approach due to lack of QOS and security issues. I usually encourage them to only use SIP trunks where the provider installs a dedicated trunk. In this case the provider installs a SBC and I connect via a private IP. In this setup would I need an Avaya SBC? If it isn't required would their be any benefit?

Thanks

No need for SBC for sip but you can use it for remote workers etc

Thanks that is what I thought. If I only use VPN phones would using Remote workers and a SBC more secure? Can the SBC provide better security for the One-x Mobile Apps. The One-X mobile is my major concern since it requires port to be opened to the internet.

For mobile App's, the SBC is probably your best choice.
That or VPN on the mobiles.

Anything else would be madness, in my opinion.

Kind regards

Gunnar
