I'm getting ready to install an IP Office. I was going to bench test it and re-created the SD card per the knowledge base instructions. I got the message that said the card had been recreated successfully. I put the SD card in the IPO and all I get are red lights, the system never boots. Could something have gone wrong in the card re-creation?

How long did you wait before giving up?
The initial start up can take a while.

Also, did you check if you put the SD in the correct slot? (The left one seen from the back). And there are 3 status lights adjecent to the SD slots, what do they tell?

Kind regards

Gunnar

I let the system go overnight, I would think that should be long enough.
I am sure it's i the right slot.
CPU light and system SD light are green

First you say that "all I get are red lights", now you say that the "CPU light and System LED light are green" - a bit more accuracy in the descriptions you provide will help everyone.

What level of software are you putting on the SD card? is it an Avaya SD card? what are base cards are present in the system? have you tried accessing it with IP Office Manager or direct to the default IP address?

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

And have you tried to connect Manager to the system? Probably (192.168.42.1 on LAN 1 port.)

Could be missing licenses, faulty creation of SD, blown cards or unit, etc...

BTW: You have any training on the IPO?

Kind regards

Gunnar

Add a serial cable between the ipo and the pc,use putty to connect to ipo 38400,8,N,1 and monitor the boot messages. It will tell what is wrong.

Cannot connect directly to unit. I'm thinking something went wrong in the formatting of the SD card. I have 2 combo cards in the unit as well as a TCM and PRI. When the I power on the system, I get the solid red lights on the cards. The solid red never changes. On the back of the unit, I see a solid green CPU light and solid green system SD light. Trying to load 9.1 onto this unit and yes, I have had Avaya training.

What release, if 9.1 then what is the PCS of the IP Office, if 14 or lower you need to create the SD card as a R9.0 and install and let the IPO upgrade. Then without plugging in a phone recreate the SD card to 9.1 and re-install the card and it will upgrade to 9.1 then you can make your first call. Be careful if you make a call at 9.0 you need an upgrade license to get to 9.1

Could be that it is a PCS13 unit not ever booted in R9.0?

Well, at least it's not too late, would have been worse if you plugged in a R7.0 card:)

Do the install as per the instructions given by Avaya, the R9.0 jump without doing anything when lights go green, just recreate to R9.1.

Kind regards

Gunnar

This is a PCS14. So you're saying that I have to create the card as a 9.0, then plug the system in and let it boot, then re-create it to a 9.1?

Yes it is in the installation instructions for the release. Create card as 9.0 boot the system when it is booted recreate the card to 9.1 and reboot the IPO. Just don't plug in a phone in between.

Thank you teletechman. Greatly appreciated.

no problem this just bit me in the butt Monday. Funny it was not in the release note just in the installation manual.
