IP Office KB Retirement 1

I was looking at ipofficekb.avaya.com and there is an important banner saying that the site is retiring and will be redirected to support site.

Important: This web site is being retired on the 15th January 2025. After that date, this address will redirect you to the IP Office information on https://support.avaya.com.

Anyone know why this is going away? This was a really good go to site.

Just guessing but…you think money is involved?

Not much notice! The kb doesn’t need a login but support does but I am not sure if that is a reason.

To be fair the knowledgebase changed some time ago with it changing to redirections. It's not been the same since. This feels like a natural progression hopefully we will still have access to the same documentation.

It was an awesome resource once.

I think this is the successor of the old knowledgebase but good is different.

I have to say I am still better finding things in the old pdf files, especially when they are all in the same folder and the pdf search tool searches them all at once

Today we finally redirected the IP Office Knowledgebase address to the general Avaya support site. The IP Office site has existed in various forms since the late 1990s, originally supporting the SDX and Network Alchemy products that lead to and became the IP Office.

Avaya has been through a lot of change recently and we have to adjust to the resources available. Whilst IP Office documentation will still be published to both the Avaya support and Avaya documentation websites, we cannot continue to maintain and update a third server with the same information.

When you think Avaya can't get any worse they say hold my beer!! The one resource that you could find stuff relatively easily on Avaya then discontinue it. If your support site search was up to scratch and laid out in a useful manner this wouldn't be an issue. Bravo Avaya for now not Beta testing IP Office properly before release, Bravo Avaya for releasing AXP a product which I don't think had passed Alpha testing never mind beta. Experiences that matter eh as Jim Royle once said "My arse"

Not to mention new handset firmware now requiring a PLDS login (something I always appreciated with Avaya was them making set firmware freely available).

The mention of license files to unlock "enhanced features" in the latest J100 release notes is also a bit concerning.

I wouldn't be surprised if the new support site eventually requires a service contract to access documentation either.
