Is it possible for small Business Partners to host IP Office Hosted services or is that only available to big distributors like Synnex?

Money talks at Avaya, if you have enough they'll sort you out I'm sure :-)

Look at the licensing fees for deploying a 20 person IP Office Server edition plus the phone purchase price, then figure out how to bill that out monthly at an attractive rate. Its not cheap... Then throw in space in a Data Center and the cost of bandwidth and a SIP Provider.

Its really only cost effective if your a high level partner with deep cuts on licensing.

Cheaper to just "Host" the system onsite at the customers location and charge them the monthly fee for everything included. Otherwise it's a Synnex or Avaya Live types that get the hosted piece of the pie.

The word "Hosted" or "Cloud" kinda takes the small business partner out of the equation, and they either become a reseller of hosted company A or company B, with a small margin.

For now, hosted companies have really screwed over the customer by poor service, poor quality, and undelivered promises, but once everyone has GigaGoogleGoGoGadgetFiber links to the internet with managed services right on the link in 10 or 20 years who knows where we will be? The traditional method of onsite phone equipment may go away.

We have started "hosting" our customer systems in our data centre, same end result. The Avaya hosted/cloud solution is way overpriced and requires so much server power it's crazy :-)

As AM we have started hosting IP offices in our DC for customers as well now. We currently have a couple of ways of doing it we provide full systems to bigger customers (one has 50 users, Oak Recording, Evolve and SIP trunks) then we also have a single system with multiple SIP trunks that we host our 2-5 user customers on - these mainly use one-x mobile or VPN phones.

Pepp on you second hosted offering, how do you restrict communication between the different companies i.e. dialling each other - or do you not?

As most of them are using One-X Mobile we create XMPP groups just with those users in that minimise the contacts they can see.

We also make all users Ex-Directory so they do not show in normal Directory entries.

Other than that we ensure they know that it is a shared system and there are other users on it as well.

There is another way you can do it and that is to amend the
Dial Delay Count to 0
Dial Delay Time to 3
So more of a U-Law setup.

Then set up user shortcodes (not system ones) for the specific other extension number ranges that you don't want them to dial and set them to barred. Because there is no dial delay count extension do not take precedence over user shortcodes (I found this out the hard way being a UK installer).

I never liked the idea of a PBX hosted in the cloud but if I could host a PBX on the same ISP that my customers use then I might have something that I can sell that would work. It gives me the ability to blame the ISP for all my network issues. The ISP sells SIP trunks too, not cheap, but it is an option for the customer. If I install IPO500's I can use copper trunks too.

An added selling point is that if hosted PBX doesn't work out I can roll the customer over to an on-site solution.

I was hoping that the hosted solution was cheap enough to host a bunch of IP-Server VM's. It would be really nice if Avaya would just charge a really low price for the server and then charge a bit more for the IP endpoint license. Sounds like that won't happen.

We host in our data centre, we are an ISP and an ITSP (SIP trunk/line provider, so we're good to go :-)
