This is my first IP Office V500 8.1 so bear with me. System has embedded vmail only. I cannot seem to figure out how to access the voicemail to record the AA greeting or how to record the AA greeting. I did the time profiles. I am missing a major piece of this puzzle.
Help!

NiceRing, you config is a mess [smile]
Alarms through the roof, and you misspelled the name of the AA in the short code *98.
Avoid spaces in AA names, use underscore.

I'll have a look at it and post it back on here a bit later.

Kind regards

Gunnar

Cleared your errors. Changed your line group ID usage. Closed up your hunt group names, AA names and source numbers. Check your source numbers are what you need for that one user with all the new source numbers.
Increased timers where required for coverage and overflow.
Direct Dial by number turned off for AA.
Changed your locale and line group ID usage in your ARS table. You might need to tweak a bit here and there but it's not limping now.

One of the other boys may wish to expand on what I've started.
Don't upload errors to a live system. You're importing corruption and you could interrupt the space time continuum.

Ok, Holdmusic did a fine job there [smile]

Made two updates for you, v2 and v3

I did a little deeper digging:

- Voicemail code "1234", that's not good! System will refuse to use that. Now changed to "2010"
- Removed 2010 sec on inactivity (you don't have to repeat the login code, as that's what you did)
- Extended the ring time to 15 sec (5 rings)

In v3
- Made a User Right "Medical", put in Call Appearance, reserved last CA.
(Line Appearance is messy, I don't like them at all, and they can cause trouble)
- Blank ICR with destination All Sets-Hunt Group (any call will go there)

Security: You have default passwords, that need attention as well. Log in to Security Settings with security/securitypwd.
Change the Administrator and Security account pwd's. Disable accounts you don't need (that would be the rest of them).

Upgrades: Move the unit up to R8.1.85 or .91 (it's free)

BTW: Doctors love fax, why isn't there a fax user configured?

Medic 2

Medic 3

Kind regards

Thanks. Looking forward to seeing the changes. Planning to change the passwords but more concerned about getting it working first!! Didn't know about the no spaces in the name thing. Thanks. Is someone going to repost the file on their thread so I can access it?

It's right up there, Medic 2 amd Medic 3 + Holdmusic has posted the first edition in his post (dropboxed)

Kind regards

Don't forget to post the bill as well.... this forum is to help each other not to configure complete systems free of charge.
Not that I don't want to help but I have to make a living too....[curse]

Well, well, let's hope our efforts were valuable to OP.
Files were downloaded 3 times each, so plenty of copies around.

Kind regards

You weren't likely to pick up a small doctor's surgery in Hawaii Intri.
Fixing the rest of that config would have needed more posts than the Brighton pier.
I see your curse and raise you a hex.

Are we playing poker now?
I see your HEX and raise you a bit [shadeshappy]

It is not about the location but it is the trend what worries me.
Fix a config for one and before you know it everybody is adding configs here.... and expect it to be solved as well

More posts than the Brighton Pier, funny!
I did not ask anyone to fix the config, someone asked me to post it and I did. I had no idea that programming a 25 second delay before the AA picked up on 4 analog lines would turn into a 77 thread post.
I learned so much through all of this. Thanks for all the input.
Sorry for the delay in response, just was so sick of the damn thing I needed a break. It seems to be up and running with no problems. I have saved the file for future reference.
1. What do you think about just using Basic mode if it is a really small system like this, a 4X4, or 4X8, w/AA and a couple of mailboxes? Also, there are so few customers of mine that could afford or justify a T1 or PRI, why not use the Basic Mode? Just askin' for pros and cons.
2. Please explain (someone) why line appearances are so despised.
Thanks so much for all of your help.

>2. Please explain (someone) why line appearances are so despised.

Line appearances cripple the functionality of the PABX.

For outbound calls, PABX's use a variety of of techniques to place the call using the correct trunk and can be programmed to enforce business rules (such as allow / deny users from calling certain destinations) Line keys seize a trunk line and bypass all of the sophistication; allowing users un controlled access to the trunk.

Inbound calls, similarly can be routed in various clever ways (depending in trunk type and features of the PABX) like Auto attendants, multiple huntgroups and overflows, according to CLI etc. Using line keys again bypasses all of this and worse, makes any call flow useless, because calls ring on the line appearance.

Short form; I've never found a customer with IP office that benefits from use of Line Appearances. However as I'm British (and many here are from Europe) we have more trunking options at the lower end (BRI) which means it is cost effective to have DDI type numbering at small sites. US tend to use multiple analogue lines where square systems (4x4) are used. Avaya introduced LA keys to break into the US market about soem years ago and never really made then core to the product. personally, I think they are flaky.

If your customer insists of Key and lamp operation, then there are better systems for it. IPO is incredibly flexible and usinga feature that cripples that functionality is rather like putting square wheels on a Ferrari. Don't forget that people here are techies (most commercially aware techies, granted) and wasting the system like this borders on "offensive"

Take Care

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.
