I have setup an auto attendant and the prompts seem to be working correctly but the announcements will not play even though they are recorded. I think my problem is one of two issues outlined in the following thread:

According to tlpeter, “shortcodes *8101 and *8102 are for greetings "Good morning" or "Good afternoon" but the actual menu is *840x.” I’m trying to use *8101 as the main greeting with prompts. Could this be causing the announcement not to play? I have also tried *8401 but still silence.

Also, k0ua stated he fixed his issue by wiping out all embedded auto attendant programming and then reprogramming. Should I have to go this route to fixe my issue, do I need to delete just the Auto Attendant portion or the hunt group piece as well.

Thanks!

*8101, 2, 3 are greetings which are thrown in from of the main *8401 and will only be heard is a time profile is used which invokes them.

I personally never use them.

I would delete the AA and rebuild, then ONLY record the *8401.
If you want to test it, build a short code
*60 (or something), feature = autoAttendant telephone number = AA:exactlywhatyoucalledyourAA and then dial *61 from a phone... you should hear your greeting.

*8401 is the true greeting. Make sure it is really recorded properly.

Thanks! Just for learning purposes.. Can *8101 and *8102 be used as the main greeting with prompts? If not why are they setup as the default announcements for the AA.

Thanks!

They are not the defaults, they just appear above the other prompt on the screen, by default there is no announcement until you record it. They only play when you assign a time profile against them :)

They are not the actual prompts menu, they play before the prompts menu. So, they are really just for saying "good morning", "good afternoon", etc which then passes on to the actual greeting where the caller can access the actions on the menu.
