I would be surprised if netgear (or any of the other big names) gives any course for concern.
you are more likely to have trouble because of the end user's ISP. Some will not work because they block the required ports on their network. (Virgin Media in the UK is one ISP that is confirmed as NOT SUITABLE, there are probably others)
A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
