Somebody recently unplugged the UPS for our CMS and brought the sytem down. Everything is back up, except the wallboars aren't updating. Anyone have any information on how this is rectified? It would be much appreciated!

Depends, do you have ultralink? How are your wallboards fed, is it direct from cms or via another server/pc?

I'm not sure of the answer to this question. The CMS is on the second floor and the wallboards are on the third floor. It looks as if there is a phone type of cord that plugs into the back of the wallboards.

Ok, the system can be fed in 1 of 2 ways (from my experience.) You will either have a PC/Server that will be running Ultralink (or another type of wallboard display)software, I don't think you've got this, if you did you'd know because you will have an extra bit of hardware lying around.

The other way is for CMS itself to to be feeding the wallboards via a process that is running on the server. The easiest way to locate this is log into CMS (via the terminal) as the cms user. The text menu should have an option called Wallboard(s); the start/stop elements are under this option. If you don't see it, have a look at the Main Menu Addition option on the User Permissions, see if the option appears under there - it may be as simple as the cms user hasn't been given access to see it on the main menu.

If this isn't available, log off CMS (so that you are brought back to the file-system prompt). The files/programs for the wallboard feed are stored in:

/home/export/pserv/xxxxx

xxxxx can either be 'ultraftp' if you've got ultralink or 'walld' if you've got the CMS feed; have a look in this folder see what's about; if you've got 'walld' there should be a 'startwalld' and a 'stopwalld' command, run the startwalld and see what happens. (bear in mind you have to type ./startwalld)

NJ,

Thanks for your help, but starting and restarting the wallboards doesn't help. I've opened a ticket with Avaya. Thanks again!

I was checking out our setting(configurations) on our wallboards yesterday using the terminal verison of CMS. I went out to start/stop, and when I went back to configurations, most of the 12 configurations were gone. Any ideas on why this happened, or more importanly, how to get them back. They boards are running fine for now, but if someone were to start/stop we would be dead in the water. We are searching for old documentation of settings, but haven't found them yet.

Thanks,
