Is there a way how you can install android previous versions for the Avaya One-X for IP Office?
At the moment the only latest version available for One-X preferred edition for IPO available on playstore has been updated to support version 10.0
However...this update does not work for whoever is running previous versions such as 9.1. I have already experienced this one time and I had to upgrade my application server to 9.1.

This is not so fair however, because whoever is running Avaya one-x mobile, and he changes the phone or re-installs the application, he is automatically forced to upgrade his IP Office to the latest version which is not so nice given that until he gets the upgrade sorted the mobile app is not functional at all.

Is there a solution to this issue?
This is not the case with Apple IOS. It is only an issue with Android playstore and the apps that the DEV team are publishing in there.

raise it as a fault through IPOSS
(although avaya will simply tel you to apply for your V10 upgrade license & upgrade)

I did raise it yes, I just find this is very unfair on our customers.
Sometimes customers do not have budgets to upgrade their systems, and on another note the users who upgrade simply stop from functioning, which is not so very nice.

I agree with you fully (& given a * in case Avaya happen to read this)

i had a great conversation with them once after they suggested & upgrade before they investigated an issue, then confirmed it was a known issue
then fixed it on the previous release without fixing it on the current one (& as it was a CCR issue we could not simply roll back)

I now ask Avaya to confirm the issue was known & has been fixed before agreeing to an upgrade.

Thanks for the star!
It can be very frustrating when you have 50 or more users using android phones every day, and one fine morning they automatically do not work following an upgrade.
Previous versions should be made available in my opinion...it solves alot of pain.

or stop ****ing about with the protocols & make sure the new version is backwards compatible with previous releases

As IPGuru says, they need to make sure it works on all supported versions.

Having several different versions for download is more confusing than useful, don't know if Google/Apple would even allow it.

Maybe the stars may attract Avayas attention on software compatibility en deployment.
If I upgrade a One-X Portal server then all clients must be updated as well (even if the upgrade is only a maintenance release) while Avaya doesn't have a autoupgrade feature build-in for the customer.

let me pitch in with a star to get Avaya's attention.
something has to wake them up and get their head out of their A$$ the clouds.

As laudable as it is, stars are not going to be logged with Avaya.

Please refer to this TB: for an explanation on the why you are experiencing this event.

You can also contact uccandroid@avaya.com describe the problem you experienced if it is external to the TB above, on what release of the solution (IP Office, Onex, Onex app) and what you would like them to do about it.

Avaya should stop f@ck!ng around with the app!
The amount of supported phones is a laugh and totally not representative at all.
I have a customer where after an update of the app they suddenly had no speech at all.
In the end i had an apk of an early version which did the trick.
Only when i installed the apk it resolved the issue (updating it later still works) but installing a newer version always broke speech again.
Avaya support couldn't help because the phone was not supported which is stupid in my eyes.

Mitel does this much better and does not handle it like Avaya.
I still love the IPO but everything around it is a piece of crap developed on different islands.

Thanks for the stars :)

tlpeter is right about these games. When you have a customer that invested grands of money in a solution, and all of a sudden this stops working because of a stupid upgrade, is going to force us to get away from selling such options with the IP Office as they lead to difficult situations with customers.

The best solution would be to have the app downloadable depending on the release of software that the customer has available.
I was wondering if there is a way how you can download the app from the playstore and download it into an archive to be accessed whenever this is required. This can also be a solution but I doubt its possibilities due to the way playstore works.

Read the TB. There are known hacks on that version of TLS with the app. It's not the app's fault.
If they didn't fix it then the hacked people would in here complaining their voice traffic has been intercepted.
Can you imagine the shitstorm if Google Play pulled the app because of TLS vulnerabilities?

After reading the TB and if this is happening due to them fixing a security issue it makes sense like with the other SSL/TLS fixes the past years.

I do wish they would have had this information in the regular Release Notes as I can't find any information about it and most people probably don't follow all TBs released.
Also the mobile apps release notes doesn't mention this either, only a recommendation to use the latest IPO SP.

Google app states IPO 8.0+, 9.0+ for VoIP or 9.1+ for secure connection.
Iphone app only states IPO 8.0+.

If it actually demands 9.1.8+ it should be clearly stated in as many places as possible.

Actually 9.1.9. It worked for me after updating the application server.
I have also updated the IPO firmware to make sure I do not encounter any issues but the Application server upgrade was enough to get the android clients to work.

Is this going on? I just got a new phone, so the new install will not be of any use to 9.1.7? Is this affecting IOS as well?

IOS is not affected. My iphone is installed with app version 3.1.5.724 and still works with no issues on 9.1.9
The issue is mainly with Android devices.
At least I discovered that upgrading to 9.1.9 got my Android devices to work without being forced to upgrade to version 10.
It is still a pain in the sense that if you are a BP, your customer is going to call you because the android devices that just upgraded the app stopped from working, and you going to have to organize an upgrade in a short time.

In my opinion apps should be either backward compatible or otherwise a version of the app per release is made available.

Go settings/advanced/advanced voip/secure connection. Uncheck it.
