I have a customer with a 403 R2.1.77. They are having issues with caller id or else I would leave the unit as is. Avaya won't help troubleshoot unless I get them to 3.2.55. That being said, can I upgrade straight to 3.1(999) and then 3.2.55 or do I have to follow the whole trail up to 3.2.55?

The trail:
2.99(1000)
3.0.69
3.0(999)
3.1.65
3.2(999)
3.2.55

Thanks.

Mark

I got my answer from Avaya. In case anyone else needs it:

First, Upgrade to 2.99(1000)
Then, Upgrade to 3.1.65
Then, Upgrade to 3.2.55

I wish Avaya would release an upgrade document stating the upgrades required for the different units and at what s/w level.

They have done it in the v4.0 Tech Bulletin, why can't they do it for the other s/w levels. Each Tech Bulletin tells you to refer to the previous.

Are all the steps needed or not????

When I am upgrading units from a really old release to a really new release, all I do is read the folders in the manager folder. Don't worry about the documentation because all the information is right there. Let's say that you are at release 2.0(??) in an IP-403. Go to the manager folder in your computer (c:\program files\Avaya\IP Office\Manager\-------) and look at the folders at the top of the page. I usually go to the top and select "View and Details" to see the list easier. You will see folders labeled "IP 403, IP 406V1, IP 406V2, and so on. Go into the IP 403 folder and look at whats given. Look at your release and follow the chain of newer releases from where you are to the latest BIN Release. All you do is copy and paste the BIN file from that folder to the manager folder, and execute the upgrade wizard. It has always worked for me without fail. good luck

3.2 Manager doesn't provide the 3.1(65) BIN files. It does provide to .99 BIN files. All systems must be at 3.1(65) before going to 3.2 (TB 71).

But then if you read TB 80 for V4.0, going via 3.1(65) isn't needed anymore.

WHO KNOWS?!?!?!?

@jamie77

for 4.0 you need more memory
the memory is al lot bigger so you won't to use the boot loader
so with a pcs 8 or higher you propebly won't need to use the bootloader to from 3.1 to 3.2
thats why is is not in the docs of 4.0

tlpeter;
If I read the documentation correctly from the internet, the IP401, IP403, and the IP406V1 aren't going to be support in the 4.0 platform. I downloaded the bulletin lastnight, and noticed that the 46XX phones wouldn't be supported, as well as those models of IP Office. Has anybode played with the new IP500 that that document talks about? Until reading that document I didn't know that it existed.

@bigwill

i know theye are not supported
i was explaning why you don't need the bootloader in 4.0
