Customer has 4 employees sitting at one table with a phone. They want all 4 employees to have their own extension and voice mailbox. They want all 4 extensions to ring on the one phone. They also want each employee to be able to control forwarding their calls to cell numbers. It's a 1608 phone. Any suggestions to accomplish all of the above most efficiently?

Yes, buy 3 phones.

Seriously, I've had that type of scenario before, and it is aggravating. At one point, you have to be able to tell them there is only so much you can do.

I don't know if this would work: create 4 users with HotDesks login. Forward each extension to the phone. Have them login to their extension to manager their forward to cell. I don't know if forwarding is active on logged out extensions though.

The caveat you will run into; they will have to constantly switch between forwarding to the phone and the cell.

Try and find good reasons not to do it. Usually, if you pile on, they give up. Or better yet, accomodate them, and after 2 days when they call back pissed off, just give the that look that says "it is what it is" and shrug.

What a cheap customer...Here's an idea:

(You didn't specify what kind of lines or Version the IPO is, so I just guess it's BRI/PRI and R8.1)

4x Hunt Groups:
Faye 201
Uma 202
Charlie 203
Kent 204

1x user:
Master 200. Put it in all the HG and make buttons for setting each HG OOS

4x ICR for the DDI's, set the forwarding numbers in the Fallback Field.

4x Short Codes for dialling out, setting the individual caller ID

1x Short code for the ICR to dial out.

(Users can't change the forwarding numbers unless you train them to use Manager).

Kind regards

Gunnar

Buy one of those connect 4 lines to A, B, C, D and the phone to the I/O port.
If user A want to make a call he set the switch to A user B select B etc.

all it needs is a single input and a switch that switches both wires between the jacks. Is like a switch for Monitor use that wsa before the KVM's got good.
