SCN moving users to a new site 2

I have a 3 site SCN and I am going to move several users from Site A to Site B.

Do I need to move their entire User profile from A to B or can I leave them in Site A and still have calls follow them to the new location?

If you set login details for all those users you can log in wherever you want in the whole SCN network

You can leave them on the first site if you set them up as hot desk users. The only problem I have had doing that was network disruptions can log them out at the new site. Typically I move them to the new site. VM pro does everything by name so it doesn't care which site they are at as long as the name remains the same.

What's the easiest way to move a user? I tried to copy and paste but that's not working and it seems like I have to recreate the entire user including all of their custom buttons.

Is there a copy paste method or is there a way to import an individual user and all their settings including their button settings?

Thank you

  • Open config from the system the Users will be moved from, save as offline copy
  • Open the offline config, delete all users, EXCEPT those that will be moved
  • Export the config as binary, checking the Users
  • Use WinSCP to copy the Accounts folders, Names and Greeting wav files
  • Blank out any ICRs that point to the moving users
  • Delete the Users from their current Expansion Control Unit
  • Delete IP/SIP extensions and blank digital/analog extension ports on current Expansion Control Unit
  • Create IP/SIP extensions in new Expansion Control Unit, renumber digital/analog extension ports
  • Import Users from binary configuration into the new Expansion Control Unit
  • Double check Group memberships
  • Copy Account folders, Name and Greeting wav files to /home/Administrator
  • Change ownership to vmpro:vmpro
  • Move Account folders, Name and Greeting wavs to appropriate folders in /opt/vmpro
  • Restart vmpro service via 7071
  • Restore ICRs
