I have a print server that is also a Domain Controller. I want to grant a non-administrator account permission to add network printers to that server, but it can't get past the "Add port" portion, giving an access is denied message. The DC is in a Windows 2003 domain, with 2003 forest level...
Is your Metaframe server running on Windows XP? I ask because the article you reference is specific to XP. Try this one instead:

Is your DNS setup within Active Directory? If it is, then all the zones can propagate between servers. Also, are you certain that it is DNS that is providing the resolution? It is possible that WINS could be as well.
I am looking for a way to capture permissions on extensive file shares such that I can easily re-apply those settings in the event they become messed up. I am looking for something like the Security Configuration and Analysis tool, in that I want to be able to export a configuration to an...
It sounds like something has changed with the permissions to RDP on the windows 2k terminal servers. I'd check to see what the permissions are on the protocol - if you can log in through ICA, you should be able to do the same through RDP. Also, which updates did you apply and were any of them...
Your Windows Management Instrumentation service sounds like it's messed up. Try this as a fix:
Stop the WMI service and set it to disabled.
Reboot your computer.
When it comes back up, go to the /%systemroot%/system32/wbem/ folder and delete the repository folder.
Set the WMI service back to...
Thanks, but the last time I checked, you didn't make decisions about my environment. If you don't want to help, that's fine, but don't tell me how to administer my network.
I've experienced this when the users did not have permissions to their own profiles (we have roaming profiles, but it would be the same for local). You may wish to check to see that the profiles are being created properly with the correct permission set.
We're testing PS3 and I'm trying to make the Packager application function. What happens is I can create a package through a recording without any errors, but when I go to install that application with Installation manager, it shows success, but no app gets installed. I've followed the...
The following is the full text of the script we use - remember, we're modifying backup_exit_notify.cmd here. The only change to the stock script is the line that I had posted earlier. You'll find it at the end of the script. Note that command extensions must be enabled - the script includes...
I'm contemplating upgrading my DataCenter 4.5 to 5.0. Does anyone have any warnings or testimonials about performing the upgrade? All comments welcome.
I don't know if those problems still exist in NG (that's the equivalent to v5, sorta ;). I did find the following that seemed to talk about the same problems under NG:
http://www.firewall-1.org/2002-05/msg00485.html
Of note, is that they mention that Checkpoint warns against manually editing...
What version of Checkpoint software are you running? There are issues with FTP for 4.1 that I know of, if that's what you're on. The links for the problems and their fixes are:

I would agree with benlinkknilneb, I don't see the problem with it.
Part of progress is developing systems/machines/software that aides people in their jobs, and this means replacement at times. As we progress, we evolve, leaving those things to automation that fit well with automation (think...
