Today when I was removing clutter with FinalRecovery 1.3, I noticed a directory named "Discrete Files" that ran parallel with my C: drive, as if it is an extra partition.
Within this folder, there are files and folders. Most of these are marked as deleted.
The tree is configured

Use find.exe and findstr.exe in the DOS directory C:\WINNT\System32). Help for these commands can be obtained by using a /? switch after the command.
As I know there isn't any standalone executable to access the Windows Explorer search function; except to do a rather complicated rundll32...
Now that I come to think of it, it seems that you might have a Windows 98 boot record on that drive. The hard drive format needs to include a Windows 2000 boot record.
Also, the post about boot order intrigues me. Is the PC being booted from the original first drive or the new second drive?
1) Notify the user that the account needs to be recreated (there was an error - which is true).
2) Then back up the user's personal files, and recreate the account with a password set.
3) Restore the personal files.
4) Set the policy and checkboxes the way you want.
5) The user then will log...
The current driver version is version 5.0.2183.1 for the standard keyboard (101/102 or Microsoft PS/2).
The explanations are that there are two drivers of different versions installed simultaneously, the driver corrupted, or there is an outdated driver, or the permissions to change keyboard...
What happened here is that you didn't reinstall the same keyboard driver, but you reverted the driver by installing the old driver.
The solution is to find which driver is the new one and install that one.
A) If unable to log into Windows:
When the computer is booting, and before Windows loads - Press F8 (or whatever key is used for boot menu).
In the boot menu, select Last Known Good Configuration.
If a screen shows up with a selection like Profile 1, hit enter.
Windows should load with the...
To reenable the left panel so that the toolbar buttons (such as Search, History, etc.) work again:
1) Go to a DOS prompt
2) Type:
rundll32 \WINNT\System32\shell32.dll DllInstall
This will repair the Explorer shell entries in the registry, and correct the...
Never mind. I just solved the problem!!
I went to a DOS command prompt and typed:
rundll \WINNT\System32\shell32.dll DllInstall
and it restored the left search panel in Windows Explorer so that it worked normally.
I did some more research and found that not all of the registry entries for shell32.dll are entered. This is why the search window is grey.
How do I reinstall the registry entries for shell32.dll that are in its reginstall section under its resource table? This is the only thing that needs a...

CPP (Check Previous Posts), especially the one to OIIIIIO on January 7. Please notice that it said that I did a "clean install". That means that I would have a new IE6 installed. This is even more than repairing an installed copy of IE6. It is practically starting over! I...
The registry is already as you stated in your post. The left pane is not corrected. It only grays out when Search is selected. With the other functions it works normally.
The previous test I did by backdating IE6 and checking indicates that this might be a problem exclusive to Windows Explorer.
