Message Waiting Indicator on IP Office

Message Waiting Indicator on IP Office

(OP)
Hi all,

I would like to use an ordinary analog phone on an analog port on my IP403.  I also have an IP400 8-port analog expansion unit.  The phone I wish to buy supports FSK & dial-tone stutter MWI (message waiting indicator) and CID.

My question is, will IP Office support this type of MWI.

If it doesn't, does anyone know and OEM cordless phones that will work with the IP Office MWI protocol?

Thanks!

RE: Message Waiting Indicator on IP Office

The Ip office only supports 81Vdc signaling for MWI, it does however support most types of cid (fsk a-j , DTMD a-j UK UK20 & a few others)

Thanks!

I wonder if you might know if this is true of the Avaya Partner ACS system as well?

RE: Message Waiting Indicator on IP Office

IP Office version 1.4 i beleive they have incorparated mwi support.Currently in 1.3 it don't work.

Ok, thanks,

I wonder if someone knows how to rewrite the software to make a stuttered dial tone if you have a message waiting (this is how Panasonic and Motorola and other phones signal the MWI light -- as well as FSK)...

RE: Message Waiting Indicator on IP Office

As of V 1.4 you get broken tone when there is a message as well as flashing MWI

RE: Message Waiting Indicator on IP Office

Sorry guys, the offical line from Avaya is that MWI is NOT supported on Analogue phones. (recent incident with this) however it would seem that some phones work other dont because of the different ways that each manaufacturer uses to illuminate the lamp.
My advice buy a DT unit then you dont have any issue!

RE: Message Waiting Indicator on IP Office

The only alog phone that avaya aprove is the interquartz phones also if you look in the ext settings not the user there is an option that says mwi on/off in default this is set to off.
