BLOCKING INCOMING NUMBERS

BLOCKING INCOMING NUMBERS

BLOCKING INCOMING NUMBERS

(OP)
Hello Team!
any idea how to block a number that makes spam calls on BCM400R4 ?

Thanks

Nikos

RE: BLOCKING INCOMING NUMBERS

If you are using the AA, you can use the CLID Routing Table to send the call to an info box and then hang up.

I don't know of any way to block the call before that.

RE: BLOCKING INCOMING NUMBERS

That's what I do. I enter the spam number into the CLID routing table and send it to a mailbox with a recording that says "The subscriber is not accepting calls." The mailbox is programmed to not accept messages and hangs up on the caller. You can block entire area codes (876, for example) by just entering 876 into the CLID routing table.

I use Info mailbox for auto spam calls

I put together a sound file....SIT tone, Greeting and a long slow Busy Tone.
SIT tones tells automated Robo/Fax software that the number is not in service.
The greeting tells the human spammer the number is not in service
The long slow busy tone is MOH for idiots that still have not disconnect

I have attached it below.

I try to do the CLID Routing on my system , i setup my mobile number and point it to a new CCR that created but when dialing in o get the standard AA prompt.
I have ISDN BRI line and i get the CLID service as i can see my number on the BCM monitor.
Any ideas? Did not reboot the system thought.

regards

Nikos

RE: BLOCKING INCOMING NUMBERS

You need to point it to an info mailbox, not a CCR tree.

RE: BLOCKING INCOMING NUMBERS

Are you setting up something different then what I had posted?

Maybe try and have AA answer at 1 ring instead of 0 even though monitor shows it at 0.

Also I found this FAQ which may or may not be helpful : https://www.tek-tips.com/faqs.cfm?fid=7951

Not sure if I was on crack or meth when I wrote it because at the moment....I do not understand it.
It appears that technically speaking "I have confused the hell out of myself"

Come to think of it, CP1xx may act different then BCM's CP.
BCM callers will get "One Moment Please"
CP1xx callers...I cannot recall but I do not think they get the above.

I will have to test on the next CP1xx I configure.

Team on AA works fine ! i just discovered that is someone calls the target line that is assigned to a set then CLID Routing Table does not block - route the number.
Any ideas on this?

thanks

RE: BLOCKING INCOMING NUMBERS

"If you are using the AA, you can use the CLID Routing Table"
That is the only way it will work, reason is the call needs to be answered so that the system can then take over.
