RECORDING ON AUTO ATTENDANT IP500

RECORDING ON AUTO ATTENDANT IP500

RECORDING ON AUTO ATTENDANT IP500

(OP)
THE CLIENT WANTS A RECORDING ONLY UPON THE AUTO ATTENDANT ANSWERING.
I HAVE EVERYTHING SET UP BUT WHEN YOU CALL AND THE RECORDING FINISHES IT TRANSFERS
IMMEDIATELY TO EXTENSION 10 AND RINGS INDEFINITELY ?? ANY HELP IS WELCOMED!!

RE: RECORDING ON AUTO ATTENDANT IP500

PLEASE TURN YOUR CAPS LOCK OFF!! IT IS CONSIDERED YELLING AND RUDE!!

Thank you.

You've haven't given us a lot to go on. What Mode is your IP500 operating in? Basic? Essential? Preferred?

I somewhat suspect that you're in Basic mode, because of the immediate transfer to Ext. 10. That would be because the Timeout action in Basic Mode is Transfer to Ext. 10. If it was Essential edition, you would have to have put Ext. 10 in as the Fallback Extension in the Incoming Call Route

If you go to your auto attendant setup in Manager, then press F1 you will find this:

Quote:

Maximum Inactivity: Default = 8 seconds. Range = 1 to 20 seconds.
This field sets how long after playing the prompts the auto attendant should wait for a valid key press. If exceeded, the caller is transferred to the operator (the first extension in the system).

RE: RECORDING ON AUTO ATTENDANT IP500

I ASSUME THAT BY RECORDING YOU ACTUALLY MEAN A RECORDED ANNOUNCEMENT PLAYED RATHER THAN THE CALL RECORDED. YES, MORE INFORMATION AND THE USE OF LOWERCASE would help if you really want help.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

RE: RECORDING ON AUTO ATTENDANT IP500

yes I made the recorded announcement in the auto attendant. When a customer calls in they get the recording, then there is
a small delay and the call is transferred to extension 10.I don't want it to transfer at all.

Thanks for your help!

By the way this is a basic ip office & VM system.

Thanks

RE: RECORDING ON AUTO ATTENDANT IP500

If it is in Basic mode, then see the quote in my first response - you can NOT disable the timeout option of transferring to Ext. 10

However, try this.

Under System Setup, set the Voicemail Mode to "IP Office Mode"

Under Trunks, set the Coverage Destination for each line to an unused extension

Under Advanced Settings for that unused extension, set Automatic VMS Cover to Assigned, set the Call Coverage Ring to 4, or however many rings you want before the call is answered with your announcement

Log into the mailbox for the unused extension, using Intercom 778. Record your announcement as the greeting for the mailbox, but press 4 when saving the greeting.

When the mailbox answers, it will play the greeting in a loop until the caller disconnects
