Hi,

I am trying to plot a graph in ecxel showing 2 simple lines and where they intersect.
however, when I plot only 2 points on a line and let excel "draw" between the two points I get different results than if I give many points to excel, Is that normal?

Here is what I have done exactly
assume a line y=mx+p with m=2 p=3000
the line goes through the two points
X1=-1536 Y1=-72
X2=605 Y2=4210

If I plot both those two points in a scatter graph excel automatically draws the line between the two point.
Now, if I calculate the location of the points in between
for say X1=-1536, X2=-1535, X3=-1534, ..... Xn=605

and plot those on the same graph the two lines do not fall on top of each other???!!!!????
(expecially if you zoom, in let say X scale from -2000 to 2000 and Y scale from 480 to 500)

Why is this happenning?

thanks for your help

Jerome

I couldn't replicate your problem. Are you sure you plotted the X values against the Y values, and not X versus X, and Y versus Y?

Cheers, Glenn.
