I have jsut installed SP1 through the updates and now on start up it goes into a loop of rebooting. It gets to a certain spot in the startup and just reboots. Any help?

Can you boot to Safe Mode and\or Restore a previous configuration?

If you can't boot even into Safe Mode then your options are rather limited. You maybe looking at a complete re-install of XP.

You Cannot Use the "Start Windows Using Last Known Good Configuration" Feature to Remove SP1.

The only way to uninstall SP1 is through the Add Remove Programs in Control Panel, and then only if you installed SP1 with the archive old files option.

How did the install of SP1 go, were there any errors? Did you have any problems?

How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade (Reinstallation) of Windows XP (Q315341).

This article explains how to perform an in-place upgrade, or reinstallation, of Windows XP. This is also called a repair installation.

When you perform an in-place upgrade of Windows XP, you reinstall Windows to the same folder. You may want to do this if you need to repair your installation of Windows XP.

The options in Recovery Console are limited because SP1 has overwritten the Repair folder in C/Windows.

It may be possible to still do something with Recovery Console such as deleting all the System Files and extracting from the original CD, but it seems a messy procedure and you still have the Registry to worry about. This is why the re-install (repair) option is favoured.

If you have a backup of the above mentioned Repair folder and can swap it with the one created by SP1 then you can try this Recovery Console option.
