I have an XP Pro laptop that is part of a Small Workgroup. The Laptop has joined the workgroup and has been given a correct IP config from DHCP.
The Laptop can ping the File Server by IP Addy, but not by name (DNS Problem I know) but it has the same DNS Server as the other seven or so clients on the LAN.
When I do an IPCONFIG /ALL , The Node type is listed as unknown instead of broadcast.
I check the registry under HKLM/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/NETBT/Paramaeters/
The key for Dhcpnodetype is'nt there
I cannot map any drives on the Network, not browse shared drives/Servers from Run \\Servername\Sharename
Any ideas?
Thanks
