Hi all,

This has been asked a million times before probably - but i'd just like to make sure im thinking of everything. I'd like to think of expandability and ease of administration. We have 2 new 800 numbers coming in for a service we're not sure what kind of traffic it will generate, so we need to be prepared, and make changes quickly if need be. Initially this is a test for marketing at our company, so at first the 800 number will point to voicemail until designated people can attend to the calls and return them. (VP's who are never in the office!).

Currently our vectors route-to number xxxx which is a mailbox setup in Audix.

I also am aware of a "messaging skill for extension" vector step that also does the same thing. We have a G3si V6 and Intuity Audix. There are only 8 VM lines to translate using the route-to step, so how would i setup the "messaging for extension" feature. I thought i read that the switch does not need to translate this step? I cannot fond the Avaya knowledgebase online anymore where i thought i had seen it.

If there are any other/better ways of doing this - i'd love to hear it. But as it sits..it's setup for voicemail routing "route-to number xxxx with cov Y if unconditionally"

Thanks for any and all help you can provide. pbxman

That one line throws me off but hey if it works, great.
"There are only 8 VM lines to translate using the route-to step"

What I usually do is route the line in the vector to a phantom extension that immediately covers to the voice mail system.

That way you have no limitations.

The mailbox becomes the phantom extension mailbox number.

Also you can use the messaging command.

You would messaing split <Audix Hunt group number> passing the subscriber number of the mailbox you want the caller to go.

This will work as well for you on all vectors and there is not limitation.

Hope that helps

Thanks for the tips. Is there a way to lockdown the Audix settings so a caller cant do anything but leave the message there? pbxman

I do not think there is any way to lock down the mailbox *R and *T options per mailbox. You can lockdown the *T option globally on the voicemail, yet may not be recommended.

For the dial 0, you may want to set up a VDN/Vector combination and in the vector add "disconnect after announcement none" (or one that says thank you, goodbye.)

Then use the VDN as the covering extension within the mailbox. If the caller dials 0 out of the box, it will say thanks and hangup the caller.
