Worked on a customer's machine this past weekend. They said it was a 1600+ system, ECS K7SEM board with generic 128 meg PC133 memory. No real problem with the system, but noticed that when the BIOS was set to 133/133 the system booted and showed as a 2000+ processor. When set to 100/133, showed as a 1250 Mhz processor. Was set to the 100/133 setting so left it there.
Just curious if anyone else ran into this situation.
There are no other settings other than the memory/bus speed settings, i.e. individual bus increments or PCI OC. The test continues...

The AMD XP1.6+ is a 266fsb processor, so in conjunction with PC133 memory your first assumption was correct, a setting of 133/133 is spot on.
We have had several motherboards that have read XP processors incorrectly, and in all cases this issue is resolved by flashing the bios.
The numbers your are posting are a little confusing!! so if you really want to bottom this problem remove the heatsink and properly check what you have fitted, XP's are clearly marked so it shouldn't be too difficult getting the settings right. Martin Replying helps further our knowledge, without comment leaves us wondering.

Thanks for the reply, paparazi.
Did notice a BIOS update on the website, but since their system was operating OK, just left things as they were.
I will pass the info on to them and let them decide.
Thanks again! The test continues...
