Which paste link format are you using (eg Excel object, RTF, Bitmap, Picture)?
How are you centering the table?
Also, if you're pasting the link as RTF, are you trying to change the formatting of the individual cells? If so, that certainly won't stick.
Gavona: Using Edit|Links should only be used if you need to change the link path, and then only if the objects are at their default link size. Otherwise, as you've discovered, they'll re-size. This is by design. The quick way to refresh the links without having them change size is to press Ctrl-A then F9. As well as updating the links, this will update any other fields in the body of the document. If you need to change the link path for in-line objects and not have them resize, it's best done by pressing Alt-F9 to display the field codes, then using Find/Replace, or simple editing, to change the paths.
