Word/Excel files locked out even after being closed. 1

Hello,

I am hoping someone can help me here as I am starting to lose my hair over this one. This is a problem I am having at a few different sites but basically word and excel documents are not being unlocked when they are closed therefore rendering them read only to any other users. The common things for this problem seem to be Windows 2000 Server (or SBS2000) with Windows XP clients, Office 2000/XP (I don't know if this is related but until this combination I have not seen problems like this often). I can unlock the files obvioulsy by removing the temp files and removing the lock from the resource however this is not solving the problem for my clients.
There is one thing I can think of and must try (if anyone knows if this will or will not work please let me know) but all of the servers in question are paging, even if only very slightly. Therefore I need to try adding some more memory, however getting people to part with money (expecially on a relitavly new server) on a possability is hard to say the least. Plus I know of plenty of servers that could do with a RAM upgrade and seem to work fine.
