I'm having trouble with my network printers disappearing. One minute they're there, the next time I try to choose a printer, they're all gone. For anyone who logs in. They're Netware queues. Anyone else having this problem?

What OS are you running? What version of Netware and Netware client are you running? Lastly, are you running any antivirus and what version of that are you running?

Sorry for the barrage but all I've seen on this has to do with older OS', antivirus, and versions of Netware. If at all possible I would test out a system using the Microsoft client for Novell and see if the problem continues.

Also, do you have the printers defined by IP address or network name? Are the printers' IP addresses staying static?

There are known issues with the Novell Client for Netware, including the issues by the original poster.

But start with you local machine spooler service. It may well be aborting due to driver issues, or something similar. I start fresh:

. As this is XP, download the Windows 2003 toolkit, and run cleanspl.exe. This removes every driver and every assignment. Then rebuild:
(Works fine under Win2k and XP)

. If you want to repair the spooler service by hand, I recommend strongly the notes by Bruce Sanderson, MVP:

I'm running XP Pro, fresh install without SP2. Novell is 5, the client is either 4.9 or 4.9SP2. Norton 8.0. The printers have static IP's, and the printer drivers were downloaded from the HP website just last week. I'd forgotten until after I'd posted that I'd installed some software that sends documents via email. That piece of software installed a printer, and it was the only one that wasn't deleted. I have those people looking into this too. Thanks for all the input.
