MY
I've just upgraded my domain server running Samba 2.2.7 on RedHat 7.2 to Samba 3.0.1 (compiled from src.rpm). Now, at random, whenever a Win98/Win2k machines tries to access my Win2k Servers (all) in the domain, we get an error:

Win2k Pro reports: "The system cannot find message text for message number 0x%1 in the message file for %2"

Win98 Reports: "\\packard is not available. Unknown error 31"

If you tried again after a few minutes, all servers are accessible again, but goes "offline" every so often. Has anyone had this problem before?

Somebody suggested that I remove the servers from the domain, delete the server registration from the samba server and it back in again and finally rejoin the server to the domain. That didn't work.

1. The machines work fine with the samba box?
2. This happens at logon, or when accessing a file resource?

I have since reverted to 2.2.7 as this was causing too much disruption at my work place. For discussion sake, my domain server and my file server are one and the same box running RH7.2. May use debian once I get a replacement server for this aging AST Pentium-100 server.

q1. ?
q2. Logon is fine. However, accessing folders/printers located on win2k servers cause problems.
