Win2K/Outlook 2002 NTDLL.DLL Error

I recently installed Outlook 2002 SP2 into Win2K SP3, so that I could use one program to access POP accounts and Hotmail.

After rebooting, I receive the message "The procedure entry point RtlDuplicateUnicodeString could not be located in the dynamic link library NTDLL.dll", when reading the Hotmail Inbox. Clicking OK allows me to read the items.

Using Depends I've confirmed that the WinXP version of NTDLL contains this function.

Any one have any thoughts

TIA - Ian

And the answer is :- APPHELP.DLL !!

Not sure how this DLL got on this machine, but it certainly hooks into the Outlook 2K chain and causes the entry point problem.

Renaming it solved the problem

Out of curiosity. When you renamed it did WFP replace the file with the correct version immediately or did you replace it manually? joegz

Since this is a Win2K machine and APPHELP is a WinXP ONLY DLL, it should NOT have been there !!.

My client told me that he had only upgraded his "Office" from 2000 to XP, (though I found traces of a "wallpaper" changer), and then he got the message and called me.

Took me a while to find it, but good for business !!
