Why no warning?

I was recently having a problem with Outlook and in the end decided to de-install and re-install MS Office. Even though I put 2 copies of the email message files (.pst) in 2 different backup folders, the de-install process hunted them down and deleted them without warning. There is 1.2GB of stuff there and I am not real pleased about losing them. Does anyone know if these files are gone forever or maybe stored somewhere with an obscure name or extension?

Try doing a search for.
.eml and .dbx

I found them ! I got a terse response from MS: "we do not delete data files with an un-install". So I called the customer and stepped him through a search for .pst files of the ebtire C: drive with hidden and system enabled, and lo and behold, there they are!. Why I couldn't find then when on-site the other day is a mystery. I will be seeing the customer shortly and I hope to solve the mystery then.

They were definetely not there the other day.

I swear Officer.

Hello,

As default, MS Outlook save the pst file to the following location(if you use windows 2000/xp):
%systemdrive%\Documents and settings\user name\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook, Application folder has been set as a hidden folder, you can set the windows folder options to show the hidden files then you can find it!
