Three days ago I removed Microsoft Office 2000, anticipating to reload a new version in the future. The next day when I turned on the pc, I received an error message saying that "Explorer has caused a page fault in module Internet Explorer...etc." The pc will not go past this point, turning it into a large paperweight.

My pc has Windows 98.

I have booted in safe mode and the same error message appeared, freezing the pc.

My questions are:
1. If I reboot in DOS can I delete MSIE so that Windows will run without it?
2. If I have to reformat and load Windows again is a new MSIE loaded at the same time?
3. Do you think my removing Office 2000 was the cause.

No. MSIE is integrated with Win98. And if you try removing it with third party softwares, Win98 will exhibit strange and unstable (yet very annoying) behaviour that you'll end up reformatting and re-installing Win98 again.
2. If I have to reformat and load Windows again is a new MSIE loaded at the same time?
Simple answer is yes.
3. Do you think my removing Office 2000 was the cause.
Most likely if it was the only thing you did before the problem occured.

hope this helps. peace! [peace]
